Getting Local Businesses Moving Again
Bank of Ireland’s ‘Show your Business’ Week engages local communities in every corner of the country.
From 12th-16th October 2009, Bank of Ireland branches throughout the country were bustling with entrepreneurial spirit as businesses in every community networked to forge new relationships and succeeded in promoting their products and services to new audiences.
This event is just one of many initiatives being offered to support Irish businesses, who have embraced the week with great drive and enthusiasm. Despite the pressure of the challenging economic conditions, these small and medium businesses are still determined to succeed and the positivity shown during ‘Show your Business’ Week is testament to this.
How does it work?
This was the first in a series of year-round ‘Show your Business’ Weeks, with the next scheduled for this week, 7-11 December 2009. They are free nationwide events open to all small businesses, regardless of whether they are customers of Bank of Ireland or not. Their focus is to provide local businesses with a central hub from which to: - Showcase their products and services - making the most of an exhibition stand or table within the branch by setting up a presentation on a laptop, displaying samples and providing supplementary marketing material
- Network with other local entrepreneurs - exchanging ideas with peers and providing support to drive one another’s success
- Connect with the local community - creating awareness and opening up new possibilities with potential customers who are interested in supporting local business
Company Successes
According to Damian Young, Head of Small Business, Bank of Ireland: “The concept behind ‘Show your Business’ week is that small businesses can display their wares at the local branch and interact with a wide audience in their local area. It also promotes the spirit of entrepreneurship amongst local communities, the birthplace of SMEs.”
The positivity that surrounds the events has come as a consequence of added exposure within the local area, stronger relationships with business to business contacts and additional sales.
